While for her fictional tales she goes by her pen name, Eliza Nevius, you may know her by her real name, Erin Egnatz. When she isn’t chasing ghosts, wrangling college students, or decoding ancient ruins, she’s spinning tales that blend romance, fiction, and sometimes a touch of the paranormal. A published author, seasoned ghost hunter, and professor of history, archaeology, and English, she is also the creator of Hauntings Around America, a platform dedicated to all things eerie and unexplained. Armed with a BA from Central State University and an MEd from the American College of Education, she has been featured in Newsweek, MSN, Scary Mommy, Fox Chicago, WAVE TV, Fox Cincinnati, NBC Seattle, on the History Channel and beyond. She lives somewhere between chaos and caffeine with her husband, three kids, two dogs, four cats, and one incredibly judgmental bearded dragon.
To follow along on her many adventures, give her a follow-on Instagram or subscribe to her blog for a FREE copy of one of her books.
Jack Wylde
Jack Wylde (the pen name of Shawn Layman) is an exciting new voice joining the Phantom Publishing family. A dedicated husband and father of four, Jack lives and works in Indiana, balancing his passion for writing with his day job as an occupational therapist.
When he's not helping patients or spending time with his family, you can find Jack co-hosting the paranormal podcast, Middle Aged and Creeped Out. His writing journey has been a lifelong pursuit—he's been crafting stories in some form since he was young—and he's now taking the leap to trust his voice and share his work with the world. For Jack, this venture is a testament to the idea that hard things are worth doing, a lesson he hopes to pass on to his wife and children.
The name Jack Wylde is deeply personal: Jack honors his grandfather's boxing name and their beloved boxer dog, while Wylde is a tribute to his favorite comedian, Gene Wilder, and the celebrated writer, Oscar Wilde. It's also the surname of a character, Victor Wylde, he's been developing since 2018.
Jack is genuinely honored and humbled to be starting this new adventure with Phantom Publishing. He sends all his love to his family and friends, and he looks forward to connecting with the new people he'll meet along this upcoming journey.
